To celebrate 2012 coming to a close this evening, I created champagne-themed decorated cookies!
For the champagne bottle, I created my own template instead of using a cookie cutter. The bottle glass was as very dark green royal icing, in fact, it was as dark as I could make it without it being black. To add the punt (the hump on the bottom of the bottle), I dry-brushed on black petal dust when the dark green icing had dried. I had Moët & Chandon label wafer paper which I applied with piping gel (instructions here).
The red seal on the next of a bottle is a royal icing circle onlay. I piped the circle onto parchment paper and peel it off after it had dried. I applied the seal with royal icing. The neck of the bottle was dry-brushed with super gold luster dust to simulate the look of foil. (It is difficult to notice the sheen of the gold in my photos.)
For the champagne flutes, I also created my own template (though some beautiful champagne flutes cookie cutters do exist). I used three shades of ivory royal icing to create a three-dimensional effect. The bubbles were added by using gold sanding sugar.
I’ve had such a great time this year sharing my creations with you! Cheers to you and yours, and I wish the best for you in the coming new year!
